Giving Tuesday

After a trio of days encouraging us all to get, get, get (Black Friday, Small Business Saturday, and Cyber Monday), a day focused on giving arrives as a breath of fresh air. This December 1st we marked #GivingTuesday, an opportunity to support the causes we care about deeply and honor the true spirit of the holiday season.

At Action Against Hunger, we’re grateful for our 6,500+ strong field and support staff in more than 45 countries. And this holiday season, we’re honored to have some of them share why they give – of their time, and of their talents. For each of them, fighting hunger is personal.

We hope you find their stories inspiring – and that they inspire you to give of yourself as best you can.

“We all want the best for ourselves and our loved ones. I give because everyone deserves the opportunity and the tools to provide for themselves and their family- to have the freedom to thrive.”

Alex

Director of External Relations

“I believe that helping one person doesn’t stop there - it has a ripple effect on their families, communities and the world at large.”

“As a mum of two children who spent the first part of their lives growing up in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC), we were constantly reminded of how fortunate we were to have good food, health and clean water, while other mums and children around us were not.”

“For a child to succeed - to go to school, to be empowered to pursue their dreams, to thrive - they need a healthy start. I give because nutrition is the basis for everything.”

“We have all been helped in one way or another, and in many ways by others - our friends, family, colleagues, teachers and strangers - and there is no better way to pay it back than to pay if forward to someone else!”

“In school I was taught “we lift as we climb and leave no one behind.” I give because I know others will follow and because helping children today is an investment in the generation to come.”

“If we cannot now end our differences, at least we can help make the world safe for children. I give to make the world a place filled with equal opportunity for children everywhere.”

"I grew up in a culture in which boys are prioritized over girls, but fortunately my father protected me from having to experience that in our family. I give because I want to help empower women and girls the way that my father did me."

Silke

Technical Director

“I want to change the world for the better. I give to ensure that I have done everything in my power and with my expertise to making this world a better place for all humanity.”

We hope these giving stories have inspired you. This holiday season, we want to make a big statement: he collective efforts of individuals can make a huge impact in the fight against hunger.

Just $45 today can make a huge difference in a child’s life!
